Saturday Sailing

I took Sea Puppy out by myself today. It is the first time I have used the new engine to run to the inlet and back.. I will put up a updated review of it in a day or so so check back.

Winds were running about 10 knots I think. I sailed beside Pirate Girl Patty’s Beneteau 323 most of the day and hung with them speed wise. I averaged 5.5 t 6 knots on the knotmeter. I think the fully battened mainsail is helping a lot. With the foot pocket eased she generates a fair amount of power in this wind range.

After sailing all morning and into the afternoon I went over to Bird Island and anchored out for the afternoon. Ate lunch and read some of the current SF book I’m reading by Lois McMaster Bujold. They book is Memory, one of the Miles Vorkosigan series.

  • Like scifi in general, but never really got bit by the Miles Vorkosigan series for some reason.

  • I have read it more than once.. one of my top 10 series maybe… its a nice mix of humor and adventure. Not very deep most of the time but really fun. If you really read between the lines and sometimes in the lines there is a fair bit of ethical and moral drama.
